STEP

Supported steps towards education, work and meaningful activity

STEP is MIKS Ressurssenter's programme for young people, primarily those aged 16 to 24. Through practical experience, collaboration and guidance, you can explore your strengths, build new skills and find a way forward that works for you.

A place to begin.

Arriving somewhere, being welcomed, trying something concrete and seeing that your contribution has value can create a sense of achievement, belonging and safety. In STEP, you have time and space to explore interests, recognise your strengths and decide what you want to develop further.

In the STEP programmes, you work on concrete tasks and projects and gain experience in collaboration, responsibility, problem-solving and delivery. You receive guidance through the work process, from structuring the task and making choices to testing and adjusting solutions. Towards the end, we consider what you have gained from the programme and which opportunities may suit you afterwards.

What will you take away?

After completing a STEP programme, you will have experience from tasks and projects that you have actually carried out. You will have used different skills in practice and receive help to describe what you did, what you contributed and which skills you used along the way.

Experience you can demonstrate

You gain experience from concrete tasks, projects and collaboration. Depending on the STEP programme, this may include work for a real client, developing your own idea, practical work or using digital tools and AI.

Skills used in practice

You practise skills such as collaboration, communication, problem-solving, responsibility, planning and delivery. These skills are useful in education, employment and other parts of life.

A clearer understanding of your strengths

The programme helps you identify your strengths, interests and areas you want to develop. The aim is to help you describe more clearly what you can do and what you can contribute.

A direction forward

Towards the end of STEP, we consider what you have experienced, what you want to do next and which opportunities may suit you. This may be education, work, a placement, further follow-up or other activities.

What you take forward

Towards the end of STEP, we gather the experiences from the programme with you. You receive help to describe what you have done and learned, while also looking ahead to what you want to do next. When the programme is complete, you receive three concrete things:

  1. STEP summary

A personal summary of what you worked on, what you completed and the strengths and skills you used along the way.

  2. Individual plan for the future

A plan that we develop with you, covering what you want to do next, the opportunities that may suit you and the next steps you want to take.

  3. Certificate

A certificate documenting the STEP programme you attended, the period and the scope of the programme.
