An introduction to practical entrepreneurship and working life in Norway
In KIME, you explore both how an idea can be developed and how your knowledge, language skills, digital tools and experience can be used in working life in Norway.
KIME connects idea development with working life in Norway.
KIME is a 12-week programme that provides a practical introduction to entrepreneurship, employment and business in Norway. You can work on your own idea, a business you want to develop, or a case independently or with others.
The programme gives you a structure for exploring opportunities, using the knowledge and experience you already have, and gaining experience with tools and working methods you can take forward.
Is KIME right for you?
KIME may be suitable if you want to explore entrepreneurship while becoming more familiar with working life and business in Norway. You do not need a finished business idea or a registered company to take part.

What do you work on in KIME?
The five themes build on one another, while the work is adapted to the idea, case and experience you bring to the programme.
From idea to plan
You explore an idea or case, investigate who it should be useful for and work step by step towards a clear plan. You do not need a finished business idea when you begin.
Marketing, finance and funding
You work on how an offering can be presented, who you want to reach and what is needed to put an idea into practice. You also practise budgeting, financial planning and explore relevant funding opportunities.
Working life in Norway
You become more familiar with expectations, roles and working methods in Norway, as well as relevant legislation and rules. We also consider how you can communicate your experience and skills to employers and businesses.
Norwegian in practice
You use Norwegian while collaborating, presenting and working on subject-related tasks. The aim is to become more confident with the words and situations you encounter at work and when developing an idea.
Digital tools
You use digital tools to find information, collaborate, develop material and present your work. The tools are integrated into tasks throughout the programme.
You learn by doing
In KIME, you learn by working on concrete questions throughout the programme. New themes are connected to your own idea or case, so you can apply knowledge as you learn. You receive feedback and guidance along the way and can adjust, ask questions and develop the work further.
Some activities are completed together, while you work independently on other tasks. Conversations, presentations and collaboration also give you opportunities to use Norwegian in situations relevant to employment and business.

What will you take away?
What you gain will depend on what you work on and want to develop. The aim is for you to have applied knowledge in practice and to be able to use the experience going forward.
- Something you have developed
- You develop something concrete during the programme: an idea, a case or a foundation for your own business. If you work on a business, this may include a business plan, marketing strategy and funding plan.
- Skills and a certificate
- You gain experience in planning, presenting, collaborating and using digital tools. You also practise working with markets, finance and delivery. After completing KIME, you receive a certificate with the curriculum, documenting your completion of the programme.
- Better knowledge of employment and business in Norway
- You become more familiar with the language, expectations and working methods relevant to employment or developing a business in Norway.
- Networks and new contacts
- You learn with others, share experiences and practise presenting your work. This can help you build new relationships through the group and programme activities.
How KIME is delivered
The programme runs in fixed periods and combines shared learning with work on your own idea or a case.

Working methods
Course days combine teaching, group work and guidance. Between sessions, you continue with tasks, an idea or a case through self-study and independent work.
Digital learning platform
You receive access to KIME's digital learning platform, with information, teaching materials and tasks that support your work throughout the programme.
Who can take part?
Here is a simple overview of who the programme is for and the steps towards admission.
To participate
- You are aged 18 or over.
- The programme is primarily for participants in Bergen and the surrounding area.
- You have basic digital skills.
- Norwegian at level A2 or above is desirable.
- A lower level of Norwegian may be considered individually.
Admission process
- If you are connected to NAV or the Introduction Centre for Refugees, you must agree your participation with them.
- You take part in an individual interview before admission.
The programme is free of charge for participants.
