About MIKS Ressurssenter

We create space for learning, participation and new opportunities.

MIKS Ressurssenter is a non-profit organisation and social enterprise based in Bergen, Norway. We develop practical learning environments that strengthen skills, networks and belief in people's own potential.

Mission and vision

More people should have the opportunity to participate and use their strengths.

MIKS works for inclusion in education, employment, business and society. We believe practical experience, strong relationships and access to relevant knowledge can make it easier to take the next step.

Our work starts with people's experiences, perspectives and opportunities. We develop programmes in dialogue with participants and organisations that understand the needs of the local community.

How we work

Our work is based on a strengths-based approach. We start with people's experiences, interests, skills and resources, and explore how these can be used and developed through concrete activities and experience.

Practical activity is central to how we work. This may involve developing an idea, solving a real assignment, working on a project or trying new tools. By doing, collaborating and solving challenges, participants can build skills and experience achievement in practice.

Strong relationships and safe structures are an important part of our work. We take time to get to know each person, provide guidance along the way and adapt follow-up to different needs and goals. The group is also an important part of the learning environment. Participants contribute different experiences and perspectives, collaborate, take responsibility and learn from one another. We aim to create an environment shaped by safety, respect and room to participate in different ways.

As a social enterprise, MIKS develops programmes in response to people and the needs we see. We test ideas, learn from experience and work with others on solutions that can increase participation, skills and opportunity.

Collaboration is part of how we work

MIKS develops programmes and learning environments with public-sector organisations, businesses, professional communities and non-profit organisations. Different perspectives, experiences and resources make it possible to develop solutions based on real needs and create closer links between people, skills and society.

Businesses play an important role in increasing participation and reducing exclusion. Through real assignments, professional expertise, networks and contact with working life, companies can help create environments where people use their skills, build experience and discover new opportunities. At the same time, organisations meet people with different perspectives, experiences and resources.

Collaboration with municipalities, Vestland County Council, NAV, schools and other public-sector organisations helps us develop our programmes in connection with existing services and follow-up. Organisations and professional communities contribute expertise, new perspectives and environments for learning and collaboration.

As a social enterprise, MIKS aims to connect these communities. We believe good solutions emerge when the public sector, businesses, organisations and people with lived experience can each contribute what they know best.
